Data license agreement
Every purchase comes with this license. “You” means the organization that bought the dataset, and “we” means the seller named in the legal notice.
Who may use it
Your organization, its employees, and contractors working for it on its behalf.
How you may use it
Inside your own work and products. That includes showing single amounts, or calculations based on them, to your own customers inside your products and reports, for example in rent calculations, inspections and underwriting.
Publishing analyses
You may publish analyses, charts, and aggregated or derived figures based on the data.
Not allowed
- Selling, licensing, sharing or publishing the dataset, or a substantial part of it, as data to anyone outside your organization. “As data” means files, downloads, bulk exports, raw feeds, or APIs that expose the rows.
- Building a competing dataset or data product from it.
How long it lasts
The license to a delivered release is perpetual: it does not expire. New releases come with the yearly updates add-on.
The sample
The free sample is the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles: all six schedules since December 2020, in the release format, plus a workbook. You may use it for evaluation and internal testing. It may not be republished as a dataset.
Who owns what
We own the compilation, its structure, the checks and the documentation. The amounts themselves are facts published by housing authorities.
The source documents are public documents of the authorities that published them. They are included as published, and their publishers keep their rights.
